Simon Nelke

Bringing to light what lies underneath, layer by layer. The Put the shadows of the visible in the foreground and the hidden as the motif make. It is this form of art that inspired the Hamburg painter Simon Carnation drives.

Since the beginning of his studies, Nelke has been working with conspicuous persistence human figures. He turns them into mystical protagonists in his works, which obey the principle of setting and deleting. Layer on top of each other and partial tearing off of the oil paint form the basis of his special technique, whereby earlier layers of the image come to light again. Carnation’s palette is spectrally extensive and its choice of colors is unmistakable. He often produces an exotic or gentle image sound through the use of tinted violet, blue, Green and pink tones that support the often magical image effect. A creative self-confidence is manifested in all of Nelke’s works articulated through symbolic settings. Dreamy and sometimes puzzling e motifs from the West and East or from the world of native peoples of the dimension of the hidden, which lays a key role in the young man’s oeuvre artist plays.
